Nivo Slider Named in Top 10 Fastest Growing Javascript Libraries

According to the Builtwith.com Trends at the time of writing, the Nivo Slider is the 10th fastest growing Javascript library in the last six months, ahead of jQuery UI, the Twitter Platform and the Facebook SDK!

The Nivo Slider is also rapidly heading towards a 1% usage share of the top 10,000, top 100,000 and top 1 million sites.

Nivo Slider WordPress Plugin v1.5 changelog:

  • [New] Added new “Gallery” slider type
  • [Fixed] File doesn’t exist bug when resizing images
  • [Fixed] Thumbnails on default theme

The new “Gallery” slider type will pull the image gallery from any WordPress post and use the images in your slider. Note that captions and links can be set per each attachment in the WordPress media manager.

I’m still amazed at how popular the Nivo Slider has become and would like to thank everyone who has downloaded the slider and used it to make their websites more beautiful.

New Pricing Scheme

Today is a big day for the Nivo Slider. We are officially phasing out the Pro package and are replacing it with the new WordPress Developer package. After listening to our customers (you guys) and much deliberation we have decided to remove the recurring subscription and make the Developer package a one off payment.

So you now have two options if you want to purchase the Nivo Slider WordPress plugin:

  • You can get the single license version, which allows you to use the plugin on one production site. This also includes support but does not allow you to use the plugin on premium themes.
  • Or you can get the developer package, which allows you to use the plugin on as many production sites as you wish (personal and commercial). It also comes with support but with the developer package you are allowed to package the plugin for use in your premium themes.

We hope this new pricing scheme makes sense for the majority of people who use the plugin. Pro customers can still login and get the latest version of the plugin, but we are advising them to cancel their subscription and upgrade to the Developer package.
